Lottie grew up in the countryside, surrounded by dogs, horses, and an eclectic mix of pets - animals have been part of her life for as long as she can remember. She has very fond childhood memories of family shoot days over Christmas, a much-loved tradition where the dads spent the day shooting while all the kids took their place in the beating line. Those days instilled in her an early love of the countryside and the rhythms of a working shoot, now enjoying working her spaniels on shoot days throughout the season.
Her gundog training journey began with her cocker spaniel, Wally. Having read The Pet Gundog she trained with an existing APGI, starting from beginner and progressing all the way to working level. Right from those early sessions she saw the benefit of training The Pet Gundog way. Learning to harness and embrace her dog's natural instincts by giving them a suitable outlet, it has been a rewarding journey.
Knowing firsthand the benefit of Pet Gundog training for building a partnership with your dog, and the joy and fun that can be had working and training your dog, Lottie wants to help others experiencing the same success. Wanting to really expand on her knowledge of the 'why' behind training, and truly understand the bigger picture of the dog, she undertook the Accredited Pet Gundog Instructor course - studying and developing herself and her dog for 18 months with Lez Graham. The learning from the course combined with her experience of training dogs, and working in a project management role, means she brings a supportive and calm approach to teaching. With an ability to adapt and problem solve for the dog and handler in front of her.
